OUR BEGINNING

The Rayfield & Ida M. Johnson Foundation was born in 2009 and named after Ida Mae Johnson, the mother of Matthew Johnson, Founder and Publisher of Girlfriends Health Guide. Ida (85yrs) passed of congestive heart failure in April 2006.

After the passing of his father in late 2009, Matthew decided to develop a health guide for men called FELLAS, A Men's Guide to Healthy Living to honor his father's legacy in the summer of 2013.

The Rayfield & Ida M. Johnson Foundation, Promoting Healthy Families" was formed in June 2013 to bring the legacies of both Rayfield & Ida together once again.

MATTHEW JOHNSON -  EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

KEEPING THE LEGACY

I'm extremely honored to serve as the Executive Director of the Rayfield & Ida M. Johnson Foundation. Nothing gives me more joy & pleasure knowing that my father & mother will be remembered for the love they had for their children, grand children & community via this foundation's mission & vision. I'm the seventh child and youngest boy of eight children. We all finished high school and college. The eight stars placed in the Ray & Ida Foundation logo represents all eight children. We will focus on health disparities, lifestyle interventions, nutrition, self development and economic development. God placed this wonderful opportunity in my care. I look forward to representing my parents legacy, family mission and the community in a way that makes God smile and my parents say, "we're proud of you son".
